The Journey Of A Simple Guy In Finding The Best Of Life
5 May
I’ve been craving for Buco Pie for months now… I don’t know why… I haven’t had one since God knows when… I’m ok with Colettes but my friends told me that we can easily buy one in Visayas Avenue and should’ve tried something else.
Last Saturday, my friend Nanie told me about this Apple Tart that her brother brought home from Tagaytay. She actually forgot the store name and told me that she’ll just text me as soon as she received the reply from her brother. When I got the confirmation from Nanie, the store that she was telling me happens to be the same store that our boss was told about. A special friend Someone told him to try the Sylvannas at this store.
Still not yet recovered from our strenuous activity at Calaruega (yes even after having lunch at Leslie’s), we decided to drop by at Rowena’s to buy something to go home with.
The store was painted with white and pink stripes outside and not that big. As soon as you enter the store, you’ll see freezers on the right and food racks on the left. The freezers are crowded with their frozen items while the racks are filled with some dry foods and snacks that they offer.
Since I never heard anything about this store before, I was quite surprised about the massive turn out of people. I tried to scan the freezer and check out tarts. I saw the blueberry cheese tarts that Nanie was telling and the Sylvanna that Sir Rex’s friend is recommending.

I tried to survey the store while my good friend Japok is jumping to his excitement and amazement that the Apple Pie are still hot! Yet another item that will satisfy his Gluttonous self.
Aside from pies, tarts and sylvannas, Rowena’s offers pasta, coffee, cakes, drinks and magazines to their mini cafe inside the store. They even have Coffee Alamid (Php 300/cup) which I’ve been wanting to try.
The staffs are friendly and even the owner herself, Ms. Rowena is accommodating. She even agreed for a picture with us while we are deciding what to bring home. I end up buying 1 box of Buco Pie, 1 Box of Assorted Tarts, 2 Boxes of Blueberry Cheese Tart (which I consumed as soon as I landed on my bed) and 2 containers of Sylvannas.
The Verdict:
Buco Pie (Php 160) – Wasn’t able to try it. I send it over to our team members. Funny that I bought it to satisfy my craving but decided to give it to them.

Blueberry Cheese Tarts (Php 160) – I SUPER LOVE IT! Love Blueberries! The crust is soft and chewy and the Blueberries tastes like blueberries! Not Duhat Colored Alatiris Japok!

Assorted Tarts (Php 180) – Apple Pie, Buco Pie, Pineapple Pie and Ube.. I Love the pies especially the Buco!
Sylvannas (Php 180) – Not a big fan… crushed bread crumbs are over toasted which adds different flavor for the cream. But its cheapo for 16 (20 not sure) pieces.
To those who are planning to go to Tagaytay, you may want to give something different to your friends aside from bulalo. Check out the place and try their Blueberry Cheese Tarts!
