iMac

While I’m waiting for my new toy to arrive sometime in November (wish me luck to have it shipped before my cousin’s flight back home in Manila), let me just show you some of the items I’m lusting for the past 13 hours.

Everyone is still awake at around 1AM Manila time as we are all waiting for Apple’s new product announcement. If you’re an Apple fanatic, you should have an idea that iPad mini will be announced as well as the new line of Mac. Here are what trended this morning on twitter and the talk of the town (at least in the digital world).

iPad Mini

Aluminum Glass Design
FaceTime HD and iSight Camera
Wi-Fi and Cellular Support
Meaurement: 7.87″ x 5.3″
Height: 7.87 inches (200 mm)
Width: 5.3 inches (134.7 mm)
Depth: 0.28 inch (7.2 mm)
Weight: 0.68 pound (308 g)

Apple discontinued the 3rd generation iPad by releasing the iPad 4 with the new A6 chip, lightning connector and has greatly expanded LTE coverage.

The New iMac

The new iMac is using an i5 processor and can be upgraded to i7
Fusion drive is another feature introduced on the new iMac. It combines performance of a flash drive and the capacity of a hard drive.

Macbook Pro with Retina Display 13″

Same as the earlier released Macbook Pro with Retina Display. Its lighter, uses flash storage and uses 13.3-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit display with IPS technology.

As much as I wanted to ignore the thought of these new babies, they’re all crying out for my name. I just simply can’t so as early as now, I may need to apologize for my credit card. Your utilization will be on the verge of glory again!

September is not just a month for a total overhaul on your wardrobe. It is not only Fashion who’s changing as the leaves fall from its branches… changes during the Autumn Season happen on Tech stuffs too!

Recent rumors may be true about Apple to stop manufacturing 24-inch iMacs. They were just trying to have the remaining stocks to be sold out in time for their upcoming upgrade. And just today, Cupertino’s Kingdom has announced the new addition to their iMac Family… a whopping 27-inch Cinema Display!

I hear the bells are ringing! This can’t be my Christmas Gift! What about an early Birthday 2011 gift?

Here are some add-ons:

1. Option for Magic Mouse or the new Magic Trackpad
2. USB Hub (4 ports)
3. Magsafe Connector for the Macbooks
4. The display includes ambient light sensor, which adjusts the display’s brightness in response to the light in a room.
etc…

And oh, rumor has it that iLife 2011 is set on August. Just few more hops before Autumn!

I just love Fall!

Before deciding to get the 3G iPad, my worries are the price and the 3G capabilities. iPad is using a microSIM which is not yet available in the Philippines when it was released. Luckily, people at Globe have come up with an iPad plan which includes an unlimited data plan and uses microSIM for Php 999 (lock-in period 1 year).

I was about to sign up for it and cancel my super surf on my phone however, I wanted to check other networks first as my Globe tattoo is not working well in my area. I have wifi at home but I needed it for mobile use and emergency.

My concern in using 3G network from other Telcos falls on the SIM. They are using the regular SIM which will not work on iPad unless… You cut it.

Oh yes… Cut the edge of it to the size of the micro SIM. I was told about this by Sir Nico but haven’t tried it yet. I tried researching for it and was surprised that a lot have tried it and it actually worked! So I decided to try it on a SUN Broadband SIM as I was hearing that the connection was pretty good. We’ll see…

Here’s what I’ve done:

1. I used the included AT&T microSIM in the iPad.

2. The materials I’ve used.

3. SUN Broadband wireless SIM

4. I’ve aligned the AT&T SIM to the Sun SIM and cut the edges of the markings.

5. Try the SIM on the trayand check if there’s a need to trim off the edges.

6. Voila! Customized Micro SIM!

7. Insert the SIM tray into the slot. The iPad detected the SIM right away with the 3G connection.

8. Change the APN to “minternet”. There are some instances that it will just right away work without it but in my case, I needed to try it.

9. Tried Safari and…. Instant 3G connection!

Oh well, contrary to my belief… SUN’s 3G connection in my area is poor! Will try to cut other SIM to test…
