Yearly, our company’s Human Resource Department is hosting a program applicable to all departments. This year, just like 3 years ago, they come up with a Christmas Tree Making contest made of recycled materials.

Since our team don’t usually join in such contests, we decided that this is the right time to show that our team do exists. We were so humiliated last Halloween that our bay is the only section that doesn’t have any decoration for the Scariest Bay contest.

Anyway, I saw this wooden Christmas Tree figurine at Muji when I shopped few weeks ago at Power Plant. It was so cute that I almost buy the one on the display if it was not only pasted on the desk (yes it was sold out!). So we planned out the structure, the materials to use and when to start building it. We thought of using the CDs or DVDs and cut it out to have textures and shiny effects like steel buildings.

We started cutting the foundation or the main structure of the tree by using “Balikbayan” boxes.

We cover the edges with Aluminum Foil

Filled in the boxes with used CD cut outs

We wanted the aesthetics to be on its original form or state so we used cut-outs CDs for the entire tree, ornaments (except the bulbs) and the gifts.
