Avenue Q

You all know my fascination on everything about NYC… may it be a TV Show, Movie, books or musicals, you’ll expect that my attention is 100% laid down to it.

When I heard that Avenue Q is back once again in Manila, I told myself that I will be watching it no matter what it takes. I missed Rent last February, I won’t let March pass without seeing this Tony Award winner musical. IT’s A MUST!

On it’s final run, I dragged Cee to join me at RCBC to see this musical. She told me that she hasn’t seen that much musical yet so I assured her that this show will not make her drool while sleeping… however, the show makes her drool for…. Princeton!

Cee is IN LOVE once again! … but this time… to a college graduate and not wearing a yellow shirt! LAWL!

Parang may hawig ha…. LOL

I have heard a lot of things about this show but I never thought that it is very spectacular and amazing… Never a dull moment! You can find yourself laughing at the top of your lungs at every single act of the show! It was AWESOME! I swear!

The production is so simple and the songs are very meaningful and funny even though it tackles about life mantras… it’s SO true! When I first saw the stage props, I could not imagine at first that a simple three building backdrop can actually cover the entire show! It was GREAT!

Rachel Alejandro deserves a standing ovation for Kate Monster and Lucy The Slut! I heard the Original Broadway act OST for Lucy but her rendition is simply the best! I mean, it’s so difficult to change a soft and sweet voice (Kate Monster) to a sexy and husky sluty voice on the same act! This is the reason I stoop down from my pedestal and asked for a photo with her! It’s such a “masa” moment!

Another “masa” moment for me is Frenchie Dy who play as the Japanese immigrant Christmas Eve! I swear, she’s hilarious! I just can’t stop myself from laughing whenever she’s singing or talking even if the lines are serious… I keep on giggling! She’s so funny!

I know for a fact that Aiza is simply a great singer but I can’t believe that she can pull out that accent! The rest of the casts are enthusiastic in portraying their part… they were all fantastic!

Avenue Q is a live parody of Sesame Street who talks about life and some other issues we normally encounter. I bet to have a teary eye if I’ll be watching it by myself as it sometimes makes you think of the challenges we face in our daily life – hearing a line such as “You gotta go after the things you want while you’re still in your prime…” will surely put yourself into thinking about your purpose in life.

Now I just can’t stop myself from playing the OST on my iPod…. I’m so addicted! Rest assured that I’ll be watching the next run again in Manila… or maybe in Broadway!

OMG! They’re back!

Atlantis Production Incorporated is bringing back Avenue Q for the fifth time in Manila! This will be their last leg of performances before they move to Singapore!

I haven’t seen this Musical yet but I am hearing a lot that this is so much fun with all the puppets and great voices.

I won’t let this month pass without watching this musical… its now or never.. NYC is too far and expensive for me (at this time), RCBC is the best policy in times of recession.
