Thanksgiving

I can’t believe its been 3 years already since I’ve celebrated my first ever Thanksgiving in California. Though its not that memorable due to what happened a day prior to the event, I can still say that I miss everything!

I miss the cold weather, the sale, black friday, and the food! Gosh! Have you seen this photo of mine in front of our Thanksgiving Dinner? I can’t believe I asked my cousin to take photo of me looking so pathetic! How much do I weight that time!???

Not that I’ve lost weight already, but if only I knew some weight loss pills that work, I might’ve look slimmer in that picture. Anyways, that will be my target in my next Thanksgiving. And hopefully, this time in East Coast!

Happy Thanksgiving to each and everyone in the United States of America!

I wish I could be there but you know, it’s recession… depression? Hope Not!

Gosh! Black Friday is around the corner… and I miss the lines so much! The crowded stores… the long lines to the cashier… the $1 shirts, buy 1 take 1, uber discounted branded items, the people running around the mall just to grab the stuffs they wanted and of course, Turkey and Cheesecake!

Waaaaahhhhhh… I’m sad na!

I woke up that morning hungry.. very hungry.. I forgot to eat dinner last night… I just watched the Fireworks video on YouTube…

It was a beautiful morning.. the weather is cold, it was raining outside. As I was fixing myself and my stuffs, I suddenly remember that it’s Thanksgiving!

Geesh! It’s my very first Thanksgiving! I went out from my room and noticed that no one’s around. The car is not in the parking space and no one is in the laundry area… I checked out the fridge for some food and found the Chicken and Dirty rice from last night. Grabbed ‘em and placed it in the microwave.

As I was waiting for my breakfast, I noticed that the kitchen is quite messy already. My tita is starting for the Thanksgiving dinner and maybe she run out of something and decided to run into the nearest Ralph’s to buy some stuffs.

I powered on the TV and watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. Gosh! What if I stayed in Jersey till I fly back to Manila? I might’ve seen Miley Cyrus, Shontelle and Charice Pempengco singing at the floats. I grabbed my camera and capture some photos off the TV.

After about an hour or so, my phone rang and it was my tita. She was asking for some help to grab some groceries from the car. I gave some help right away and asked where they’ve been. She told me that they went to see a mass and check out Seafood City for something we might need that night.

From then on, we’ve been busy cooking for the dinner. My cousin and his father just watched the TV all day while my tita and I were in the kitchen. We decided to cook my favorite siomai, lasagna, Roast Turkey, Nido Soup, Honey Glazed Ham, and the Cheesecake we picked up the other night.. Raspberry Truffles Cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory! I tell you its YUM!

We end up cooking at around 9PM. The Mexican call it a night while myself, my cousin and tita spoiled ourselves with all the food! I was so full with all those giant siomai and turkey stuffings… I don’t even have room for the cake.

My Pathetic Thanksgiving Photo

I decided to stay awake until the clock jumps into 12:00 AM… We gathered our things up, jumped into the car and head to Navy Exchange ‘coz it’s Black Friday!

Black Friday is the most awaited and biggest Sale Season in the US! Here, you’ll find lots of clothes, gadgets and appliances in huge discounts! There was a lot of discounts given but I was only able to brought home HP Multi Function Printer for $19, Digital Photo Frame for $25, exchange my cologne to a gift box set (sayang ang after-shave and shower gel.. LOL), chocolates buy 1 take 1, DS Lite with 1 game and case, Coach Wristlet for Ate Lanie and some stuffs for my lola.

In conclusion, my first Thanksgiving was fun amidst of what had happened in LA and Anaheim. I was actually hoping to celebrate this day once again but this time in East Coast as I want to watch the Macy’s Parade. Soon… when my sister’s family is in the US already, I’ll make it a point to always celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays with my nephew.

I was so pissed off that time… As we where in the car, my tita asked me to set the navigator to Anaheim ‘coz her husband was asking for it. I took the Navigator and told them that it was already set before we take our breakfast at Denny’s.

It was raining outside on our way to Anaheim… Feel the need to switch my attention to some other things and I don’t feel like talking to them so I grabbed my iPod and listen to some Kanye in full volume.

As we arrived at Disneyland, I still felt bad for what just happened in Hollywood Hills. To tell you honestly, I tried to forget all about it and just enjoy the trip but its the opportunity that keeps me hating my uncle so much.

My tita is very workaholic. She never get a chance for some vacation as she has double jobs. The only therapy she got is malling, dining and talk to her relatives in the Philippines. Can you imagine that it’s her first time to go around LA and take photos at the Hollywood Boulevard after living in the US for more than 20 years? That’s crazy! She even never get a chance to go to other states because of her work! And now that we get this opportunity of seeing more places in California is just a drive away, one ass hole just killed it!

California Adventure Park

Disneyland California is way way bigger than Hongkong, of course. You have to take a train from the parking area to get to the main entrance. Normally, the moment I enter the gates of Disneyland, it will give you this weird feeling that you are back in your childhood days and it will just give smile on your face. I didn’t feel that this time. I was still frowning and walking as if I don’t know where I am heading.

As I was waiting for my tita to come out of the rest room, I saw the kids playing around the giant Christmas tree. I just suddenly wish that my nephew was here with me and then I told my self that I will not let one parasite Mexican ruin my trip to the Disneyland Resort or US. Not now when I will be leaving in the next couple of days. I have to feel every inch of America as I am not sure yet if I will be coming back December of next year or February of 2010. (of course, I won’t be flying to US any time now)

The Parade

I went along with whatever the theme park could offer. We watch Asimo, we took the submarine to watch Finding Nemo, seen the Parade and rode the boat at It’s a Small World. I wouldn’t say that we went along fine. We still argue at some things that afternoon but I decided not make a big fuss out of it. Until one instance… the fireworks.

For me, two things that one shouldn’t miss on their visit to Disneyland: Parade and Fireworks. The entire Disneyland was decorated with Christmas ornaments and the fireworks will be a great show since there will be snow flakes showers accompanied at the show. I really want to watch the show as it will be a great start for the Holiday Season. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and it will be fun to start the party that night.

Inside the Small World

It’s A Small World at Night

The Mexican wanted to go home. I told my tita that I really wanted to watch it. We went to the shops, they look for something to buy and I just watched the parade once again at the Main Avenue. I was actually planning to buy those Ed Hardy like designs of sweater I saw two girls wearing that morning but I found out that they don’t have something for guys. I decided not to buy anything since they also don’t have snow globes for some reasons.

The Spot Waiting for the Fireworks

One hour to go before fireworks, I asked my tita that we should be walking to the Sleeping Beauty’s castle to take a great spot for the show. We walked, not minding the Mexico City and found a really great spot. I was standing that time while they are both on the bench. I can hear the normal Mexican “mami… let’s go home… mami”… He keeps on repeating those words over and over again… until I gave up! I don’t want to hear those words anymore, I don’t want to hear his voice. I turned around and said, Let’s Go Home! My tita asked me if I don’t want to watch the show anymore. I told her, “He wanted to go home, right? Then let’s just go home!”

I walked as fast as I can. Line up to the train section and waited for it. There was a silence in the car. No one is speaking to anyone. As I reach for my iPod, my tita breaks the silence. She told me that we will be going back to Disneyland as soon as Dwayne and my sister arrives in the US. I ignored it, and just played a song on my iPod. While Neyo’s Mad started playing on it, for some reasons my tears fall from my eyes. I couldn’t handle my frustrations anymore. I am so mad… so angry with a man who stole my holidays for his own good!

I wanted to scream but I can’t. I wanted to confront him, but I won’t. I pretend to be sleeping until or just wandering San Diego Freeway while raining. We stopped at Plaza Boulevard to grab some dinner at this local Chinese Restaurant. I know my tita will order my favorite Salted Pepper Chicken but it doesn’t excite me. They all eat at home and I just stayed in my room that night watching Disney’s Believe video on YouTube until I fall asleep.

I envy those people in the US for having Thanksgiving! Why don’t we have something like that in the Philippines? What’s our Black Friday Counterpart? Mega 3-Day Madness Sale? WTF!?
