While some of us are busy working last night, sleeping, partying, etc, our friends in Chile were suffering from severe fright, sorrow and devastation of an 8.8 Magnitude earthquake!

The epicenter of the earthquake was located in a city near Concepcion (Chile’s second largest city). It has been reported that the population reaches at 200,000 and it was confirmed that the death toll reaches 214 and over 2 Million were affected.

Buildings were crashed, bridges were toppled and roads were damaged. A lot of people in Chile right now are homeless due to the massive quake last Saturday. I just hope that most of them have arranged home insurance to help them rebuild their lives.

Meanwhile, due to this earthquake wherein a few miles away from the epicenter of the largest earthquake recorded in the history last May 1960, several countries have been warned for a possible Tsunami across the Pacific, including the Philippines.

Updates: Pacific Tsunami Center have canceled the warning for all countries listed except for Russia and Japan.

This is so sad! The famous killer whale, Shamu have killed one of his trainers today!

Dawn Brancheau has been working at Sea World Orlando for 12 years already, 10 of which is with Tilikum. It is said that Dawn is at the edge of the tank reaches in and splashes the surface of the water. Tilikum approaches her and open his big mouth as he waits for some fishes. The trainer places a whole fish in his tongue and rubs down his head. Moments later, the killer whale pull Brancheau with his mouth down to the pool.

This is a very sad story of a young girl who decided to be a killer whale trainer when she was 5 years old – the first time her mother brought her to Sea World. I’m sure that all trainers have their benefits from their work, even cheap insurance. It’s Tilikum’s third involvement in human fatality, so the management should think of something to keep their trainers doing their job or rethink on putting matured whales in the show.

I feel sad… I have seen the show once in San Diego and I may say that it actually inspires me to deal with killer whales (well of course I need to learn how to swim first) and to believe in myself that I can achieve something. I hope the show will continue… and to give happiness and inspiration to all.

By the way, I wore black this morning as the entire nation was asking for it in seeking justice for the 57 people murdered in Maguindanao. Rest In Peace.

Shiloh Pepin was born with Sirenomelia, a condition wherein her legs are fused from waist down – just like a mermaid. The mermaid syndrome is so rare and is so fatal that will only last a day or two.

Last month, Shiloh guested at Oprah and told the whole world that she didn’t mind calling “mermaid girl”. And after battling with her health condition, Shiloh has given up and died last Friday.

So sad.. now we all can say that she was once part of our world.

Peter Braunstein is a New York based journalist who worked for Women’s Wear Daily and The Village Voice who became popular because of “fake firefighter” last 2005. Braunstein set up two fires last Holloween of 2005 in Chelsea Building in New York. Dressed up like a fire fighter, he went to the house of a 34 year old woman to check on the fire damages and when he was allowed to enter, he knocked her out with chloroform-laced rag and then groped her.

Being a highly educated fashion writer and has worked for the upper class family in New York, his case drew a lot of attention that time. Maybe due to unlikely to be what he was accused for and having an IQ of 185, he manages not to get arrested and stayed in New York for a while.

With a large amount of fascination from media about him, there were some other details uncovered about his life. Like being addicted to pornography, stalking model Kate Moss, and allegedly wanting to kill Vogue Editor Anna Wintour. He got arrested in Tennessee last December, 2005.

To this date, Peter Braunstein is still in prison and keeping himself alive for Gossip Girl.

Funny but true. At least he still have some inspiration for not acquiring more sins of killing himself until the next 14 years.
