Extra Day of the Year Means Extra Work

Just got home, tired from work. I reported to work last night at 9:30 PM knowing that Quarterly Business Review will start by 12AM (as previously communicated). I was rushing to go to work so I can review and finish my report for the Weekly Operations Report after the QBR. However, when I was printing out something last night I was told that the QBR would start by 2AM.

I know it’s an advantage on my part but I just wish I was informed. I know that the meeting was short noticed but an email notifying the schedule of the presentation is very much appreciated.

Oh well, if only I have audio conferencing service at home I would’ve asked permission to join in the Business Review at the comfort of my own room.

Anyway, I am not complaining. I’m just trying to voice our or share that what just happened last night adds up to the stress on this very exhausting month and week. My to-do list is piling up and I have lots of pending that I don’t know which one to prioritize.

Still, I am thankful that I have this job. I just hope one day that I can move on.

Simple Job, Simple Life

Yesterday, my colleagues and I were having breakfast at the pantry and we got to thinking of a simple job that we wanted before heading to the weekly Program Status Updates.

Mami Carol wanted to be a cashier like those in our local malls. However, since most of the malls these days are already using laser barcode scanner, she wanted to do it manually. She loves encoding the prices and pressing the button for the money tray to come out. I was laughing the whole time when she’s re-enacting the moves of a cashier. It was so funny.

Papsy on the other hand wanted to be the Sales Checker (whatever you call it) of Mami Carol. He wanted make sure that every item was accounted by Mami Carol before putting a final stamp on the receipt and stapling all the promo brochures they have on the mall.

I, on the other hand can’t think of anything to share. I don’t see myself on the cash register as I don’t want the smell of paper bills and coins. I was actually thinking last night on what simple job I can get in to and thought of the Gift Wrapping Department.

I love wrapping gifts! I can actually give up my corporate life and live like a simple citizen just to spend all day wrapping gifts. Seriously, I am thinking of opening a shop for this however, my negative mind dominates my planning thought as I don’t think someone is willing to pay for this amount for his gift to be wrapped and torn apart.
